Text 1. YESTERDAY´S CONCERT

In this review, the composer Julio Robles García’s concert of the work “Sonata for violin and piano” will be discussed.

The concert in honor of Julio Robles was performed by Arturo Grossi and Martín de Aldecoa. This concert was held on January 28, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. in the Shigueru Kawai Center room. In it was released “Sonata for violin and piano” by Julio Robles.

The concert in honor of the composer Julio Robles García whose violin player was Martín de Aldecoa and whose piano player was Arturo Grossi, had as collaborators the Víctor Espinos Library, the Julio Robles Cultural Association, Brunilda Cakes, Casa Castellón and Wagner in Madrid, and was organized and presented by Loli Catellón. This tribute was held on January 28, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. in the Shigueru Kawai Center room, in Madrid. This concert was held to present the premiere of Julio Robles García’s new play entitled “Sonata for Violin and Piano”.

Julio Robles García, born on February 3, 1946, is a composer and musicologist at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid. Pianist of the choir of the Teatro de la Zarzuela, and of the Chair of Singing at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid. He is also a professor of choral ensemble in this place and of the Móstoles Conservatory. He is the accompanying pianist of Miguel Barrosa Arguelles, of the María Dolores Travesero Company, and of the Zarzuela Félix San Mateo Company. Julio Robles García has recorded 2 albums throughout his life: “String Quartet for 2 violins, 1 viola and 1 cello” and “Sonata for violin and piano”. However, he has composed many more works.

“Sonata for Violin and Piano” is part of classical music. This work is made up of three distinct phases. A first phase that includes an introduction to the main topic. A second phase of a slow nature. To finish a third phase of character Allegro Agitato. Those three phases reveal the inner world of Julio Robles García.

This concert seems very expressive instrumentally for its musicality. Although I don’t usually like classical music, this work has been different for me because I have enjoyed the combination of the violin played by Arturo Grossi and the piano by Martín de Aldecoa.

Julio Robles García is a 74-year-old composer and musicologist who premiered his work “Sonata for Violin and Piano” at the Shigueru Kawai Center, with Arturo Grossi and Martín de Aldecoa as musicians. This work tried to transmit its inner world, with three phases of which they are composed. This composer does not have many albums, but he has composed many successful works throughout his life, hence his greatness. He is the accompanying pianist for Don Miguel Barrosa Arguelles and is also a pianist for the Teatro de la Zarzuela and the Chair of Singing at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid. His first recording was made when he was 71 years old called “String Quartet for 2 violins, 1 viola and 1 cello”.
