An icy blast of wintry weather greeted the Brunswick Renegades women’s football teams when they took the field for competitive matches for the first time since 2019. It was a typical Melbourne autumn day, sunny one minute, and almost Arctic the next, but the weather didn’t prevent competitive matches against the women from University High School-Victoria University.
In the seniors match, the home team leapt to an early lead of 1.2 to 0.0 kicking with the win in the first quarter time but only managed four more behinds in the following three quarters to be defeated by 26 points. But the main thing was to back out on the field again.
