Today, I’ll tell you 5–6 most necessary tips to manage a distributed team of web developers the best. Here we go:

1.Mind a hierarchy

Before you hire or transfer an employee, decide on what exactly she/he will do. Take a sheet and write down what kind of single and regular tasks this or that employee will perform. It will be valuable and useful. The employee will understand what he’s needed to do, and you save time and money of both.

2. Use Google services

In the process of work, you will have lots of documents, tables and other files that need to be stored somewhere. The most convenient solution will be to create a corporate Google account and transfer all of your infrastructure to this service. What it gives you? — Limitless creation, sharing and storage synchronized work in the cloud of files and keeping people tuned in even remotely.

3. Rearrange communication

What is strongly recommended is to organize effective team communication with the help of a chosen task management system: Zoho Kreator, Jira, Slack, etc. — whatever fits you perfectly.

This allows you to remove unnecessary communication from the e-mail, avoid confusion, meaningless of correspondence and add any employees to the process in real time regime.

4. Make clear objectives

Either create a clear technical assignment, or write clearer instructions. A good task is a half work done.

5. Talk to people

Make daily, weekly, monthly or agile meetings. You can call up once a week and determine some tasks and projects planned for the near future your remote team members. Conducting the meeting, synchronize with your employees, and then continue all communication through Slack or whatever you pick. You can schedule meetings using Skype or Google Hangouts, or even SMS, etc. the most important is staying connected. Never allow lack or absence of communication or any feedback.

In conclusion

For a Technical Decision Maker, IT Director, R&D Lead, Web Development Lead, etc. to build communication with a distributed team effectively means monitor and constantly improve communication and working processes, as well as store all the documentation in one spot, suitable for everyone.
