How the exam was?

You need to pass the Knowledge Exam which is multiple choice exam and pass 80% marks to proceed to hands-on exam (don’t worry you can take as many as you like if you failed). You will have a Gitlab account provided to do exercises and hands-on exam.

So, you have a lab to do and a Google Form to fill out each time you complete a hands-on exam for each certification. Upon your successful completion of both exams, GitLab will send you a digital verification badge to confirm your achievement of GitLab certification and within 7 days, a Gitlab instructor will verify your work and return the result to you.

For the GitLab Certified Implementation Services Specialist, the hands-on exam will be different from previous certification. You need to complete the workshop (The detail will be provided on the guide). The environment for the workshop is very complex, you have to create many nodes or instances, and you must have AWS to run the environment. You can check the workshop here Implementation Workshop.

For the GitLab Certified I Migration Services Specialist, you also need to complete the workshop. The environment for the workshop you only need 1 VM but with decent specification (I used 8 vCPUs to complete the workshop). You can check the workshop here Congregate Workshop.

Tips for the Exam:

  1. For the exam you don’t need to memorize everything, because you can check the documentation or by googling freely
  2. Make sure to complete all the hands-on exercises, because the hands-on exam is very similar to the hands-on exercise
