Why is BTEL better than FB?

Our users are not entrusting BTEL, or any corporation for that matter. They are not storing their photos on FB file servers where all employees can access them. When a user stores a photo on the interplanetary file system (IPFS), the photo is first encrypted and stored in pieces (shards) across a distributed network of computers (nodes). This means that nobody can access the photos, because they are encrypted and because nobody has all of the shards.

This also means that if a one or more nodes goes down, your photos won’t be lost because they are distributed across other nodes in the network. Another important distinction, is that your photos are stored on the blockchain and they can never be destroyed or altered, unlike any cloud storage provider or social media network. If your photo is stored anywhere else, anyone with authority can delete or tamper with your photo. Albeit uncommon, a hacker theoretically could login and delete your photos.

When your photo is stored on the blockchain, nobody can tamper with your photo because it is an immutable record. Your public key is visible in the blockchain, and you will use your private key to see your photos. As with any cryptocurrency, if you share your private key then somebody will take your coins. With any photos on the blockchain, If you share your private key then somebody will have access to your photos. If you lose your private key, then you will lose access to your coins and photos.

If you’ve ever wanted an easy way to look at a map, and drill down into moments as photos and videos in virtual reality, then you can stop looking. BTEL applications let you create moments on your mobile device, persist these moments indefinitely on the blockchain, and view public and private moments shared by your family and friends. Our utility token creates a marketplace, for you to create channels and stream content. Members use the tokens to vote for their favorite moments, and content producers get paid for producing content.
