Sad songs — My soundtrack for those sad days
Everyone has one of those days. And I strongly believe that every feeling we have we should truly live it — so we can either move past or enjoy it.
To this day I have a mental collection of songs that I go back to when I’m sad. I’ve never gone through the exercise of actually creating a playlist or anything of the kind. One reason is because I almost know this list by heart (including possible updates through the years), and another is because you have a playlist in any of your music library, could potentially imply that you need it more often than actually necessary.
Having been raised to the eternal classic movie and book “High Fidelity”, I’ve learned that it is all about creating the right mixtape — having the songs in such an order that fits perfectly to the correct level of your current mood. The problem is that this order isn’t permanent. It needs to shift all the time to fit the moment. A perfect soundtrack to your sadness.
I might come back to this subject with other moods and share my songs, but I can honestly say that this is a list that I know better.
I will keep this piece short. So…on to the list (and just to reiterate — it’s not in order of preference):
- “Hurt” — Johnny Cash
- “Hallelujah” — Jeff Buckley
- “Lover, You Should’ve Come Over” — Jeff Buckley
- “These Are The Days Of Our Lives” — Queen
- “The Show Must Go On” — Queen
- “Spread Your Wings” — Queen
- “My Melancholy Blues” — Queen
- “Photograph” — Ed Sheeran
- “Thinking Out Loud” — Ed Sheeran
- “Dig” — Incubus
- “Monuments and Melodies” — Incubus
- “Could I Be You” — Matchbox Twenty
- “Soul” — Matchbox Twenty
- “Downfall” — Matchbox Twenty
- “Back 2 Good” — Matchbox Twenty
Or course…each one of us has a personal selection of songs. What’s yours? Would love suggestions!
P.S: In case you like to listen to this songs, I’ve done what I said what I wouldn’t. But only for the interest of the readers. Here is the list on Spotify:
