I’ve been on many sides of the music industry. As a musician, audio engineer, marketing, and most recently, writing. And I know how it’s not easy to be true to who you are as an artist and to actually be heard amongst this crowded industry.

However, ever since I heard URF and their debut EP “For The Ride”, released this month, I can truthfully say that I was mesmerised — and I believe they are headed for an incredible career.

Hailing from Manchester, URF is comprised of songwriter, guitarist and singer Abbi Parcell, synth and keyboardist Sophie Erasmus, drummer Jack Biggs, bassist and backing vocalist Ben Pratley, and songwriter and lead guitarist Scott Woodcock. With a goal in mind — to create their own distinctive sound — URF met in Manchester’s local scene, and a passion for music brought these five brilliant musicians together.

Before I talk about the three tracks in this EP, I must take a brief moment to mention why I felt so captivated. First of all, Abbi’s powerful and almost unique voice is enough to hook you to their music. But, when you combine brilliant music writing with beautiful melodies that you can hear and feel that every note was carefully placed, you get a masterpiece.
