Buckets Survival Guide To The Christmas Rush!

Christmas is fast approaching and you’re just not ready for it. I hear you. It feels like you need an extra hour in the day, an extra day in the week, and even an extra week in the month to get everything together! But don’t panic yet. With a bit of extra planning, you can still have the stress-free Christmas you’ve been hoping for.

Let’s start with your gift list. You still have a week to go, so there’s plenty of time to pick up those remaining items. You might need to compromise a bit here and there on those elusive out-of-stock purchases but, trust me, it doesn’t matter as much as you think it does.

First of all: Breathe.

All good? Okay. Now it’s time to set up your FINAL CALL Christmas Gift List. And it’s so easy you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it earlier. If you did do it earlier, you’re already super organized. But I’m guessing you still have a few extra things to cover on your list (because you’re human), so it’s worth sticking around.

You can set up a quick and easy Buckets Project to manage your last-minute gift list with just 4 columns for: Gift Ideas, To Purchase, Purchased, and Wrapped. In your Gift Ideas Column, add any people you have yet to buy for and any ideas you have. Once you’ve decided on a gift for each person, move it along each Column until it’s wrapped and ready to go under the tree.

This is where the Buckets Sandbox comes in useful. If you’re on a quick lunch break at work and see a photo of the exact color of converse you’re looking for, you can upload it to the Sandbox straight from your mobile, and drag-drop it into that gift Card later so that you’re prepped with all the info you need when you need it.

Or, if your Mum emails you a link to the perfect gift, you can forward the link straight to your Sandbox using our Email Relay.

Don’t forget that you can also add Notes and Checklists to the back of each Card with additional details, such as images of items you want to look out for, or information about the gift you want to purchase.

Once you’ve hit the mall, your Gift List will be right at your fingertips in the Buckets app!

Here are a few final tips to make sure that everything goes to plan:

Once you’ve bought a gift, tick it off your list. You’ll always see something “better” right after you’ve bought the perfect gift — don’t fall for it!

Manage your time. Set a time limit for how long you’ll spend in each store or on finding each gift, and stick to it. The longer you hang around, the more likely it is that you’ll start buying on impulse and deviate from your list.

Don’t forget to eat! If you go shopping on an empty stomach, you’re not going to have a good time. Schedule in a lunch break in the middle of your trip to relax and get a bite to eat. It’ll work wonders and give you time to clean up your Buckets list!

Check if you still have time to buy any of your items online. Some stores offer next day deliveries right up to Christmas week.

And, finally, don’t forget your phone. Once you have Buckets in hand, you’ll have nothing to worry about. So don’t leave us behind!
