Fourth day of the workshop started nice, warm and sunny with a scrumptious breakfast. While the students were getting ready for an energetic start to the day, Lab Master Prateek did a fantastic job with a clear run down of the entire day’s program with the coaches and the other lab masters.

The workshop started with Lab Master Abhishek welcoming the participants and requesting them to get on with their personal goal setting for the day along with their respective coach. Abhisekh also informed the participants about the criteria that have been set for the gate two presentations in order to make sure that all the teams know what is to be included in the final presentation and how much of total weightage is allocated to each individual evaluation criteria. He also very clearly ran through the entire day’s program for the participants telling them about prototype building and testing, keynote on presentation, the business clinic and finally about the industry meet event for the next day.

Second part of the workshop was an insightful keynote on “|Way to Prototype” by Janne Karjalainen, Lab Master from the OAMK Lab, Finland, where he focused on “Design Thinking Process”. He said that prototype is all about “turning ideas into something tangible and that good prototype is like a time machine that takes you to a time where the product already exists”. Janne also shared various types of prototype examples made by the students in the past that surely gave the participants a better idea as to how they could build their prototype. He mentioned that a great prototype should be failable, inter-active, informative, lo-fi and disposable.

Students were provided with various types of materials for building their prototype. Students then got engaged and engrossed in the process of first discussing about the prototype with Janne and the other coaches and then went on to building their prototypes.

After the tea break until lunch, Lab Master Prateek conducted a plan meeting where he along with all the other coaches did a very detailed out work division for the final day. Briefing focused on the assignments of task to be done the next day in order to mitigate last minute hassles. The major activities planned for day five starts with gate two presentation, which would then be followed by feedback circles simultaneously done with judges’ decision for the best three teams. That best three teams will then present in front of industry experts with all of the teams showcasing the prototypes and followed by networking dinner.

After the lunch, a few of the participants from each team went out to the field for prototype testing while the ones who stayed back discussed the lean canvas and consulted coaches in the business clinic. After returning from prototype testing, participants worked on refining their prototype based on the feedback they had received.

The final keynote of the day was on “presentation” which was done by Lab Master Abhishek. He mentioned that the content, design and delivery were the three main factors of a good presentation and that the main aim of doing presentations could be to either inform, inspire or persuade the audience.

The workshop then ended with Lab Master Abhishek reminding the participants about the final gate presentation happening the next day, coming up with new team name and the industry meet. Finally participants were asked to put their day feedbacks on the thermometer which wold later be analysed by the coaches.
