Here’s why we’re building Budbo — A Blockchain Solution for the Cannabis Industry

Launched in August 2016, the Budbo app created quite a buzz and we can’t help but be proud of our baby.

Since we’ve been dubbed as the Tinder for Weed, the Budbo app has been connecting smokers, 75000+ users, with the right strains.

All you have to do is get on the app, check out strains and “Puff” (Swipe right) or “Pass” (Swipe left). If you “Puff” a strain, you’ll be given the directions to the nearest dispensary which sells that strain. As easy as ABC!

However, we realised that the ABC of weed strains can be quite complicated to fathom, especially when the market is flooded which choices, with each choice having different properties which contribute to the unique effects of that strain.

So, we simplified things even further.

You don’t have to shoot in the dark when it comes to choosing a strain. You can adjust your preferences such as creativity, relaxation, pain relief, etc. on the app and voila! Budbo’s brilliant algorithms curate a list of the strains best for you.

The good news is that there’s more love coming your way. We’re now building Budbo v2.0 — The blockchain solution for the Cannabis industry and expanding the scope of our operations.

Why, you might ask.

Well, we are operating in a space which is still largely shrouded in black market practices (Everything we’re doing and have done so far is completely legal though!). The budding legalised marijuana industry is marred by fragmentation and marginalisation, and it is in dire need of systematic organisation and transparency of operations. This is where blockchain comes in.

Budbo aims at streamlining the processes of the marijuana industry, and inducing transparency in this ecosystem with the help of Blockchain.

It also aims at building a data backbone of the cannabis industry, which will help the stakeholders of the industry, government authorities, researchers, and other interested parties gain useful insights concerning the industry.

Stakeholders in the cannabis industry such as growers, manufacturers, dispensaries, etc. will contribute their data to the Budbo ecosystem. All data concerning the entire lifecycle of the product, from seed to smoke, will be recorded in an immutable ledger on the Blockchain.
