3 Fun Activities You Could Do Outdoors With Your Friends While Social Distancing
Due to the ongoing pandemic, all of us have been introduced to a completely new world (Aladdin singing in background). Some of us have spent weeks if not months without a warm hug, the company of a friend or fashionable clothes. Who would see you slay?!
Because of our health and other’s we’ve learned to maintain a social distance and became scared of coughing, even if it is just a popcorn stuck in our throats. Just keep it there…
Nowadays, there’s no better trio than a mask, gloves and hand sanitiser. We even started to get used to the idea of personalised masks with vibrant colours and peculiar patterns.
We are getting used to it…
Yet, some of us are still conscious of keeping up with our social life. With caution, we can still enjoy some time with our friends that we haven’t seen for ages!
Here are three things you could do outdoors with your friends:
1. Running Together
It’s no news that running is good for our health. Running helps us reduce our cholesterol levels, boosts our immune system, prevents blood cots, reduces stress and much more.
Run outdoors with a friend or two every week. Maybe just a few days a week or maybe every day before the sunset when there’s still light and it’s chilly.
You don’t need to be too close to run together, so you would still be able to maintain a safe social distance, share a healthy activity with your friend and have a nice conversation while you do so.
2. Have A Picnic
For this activity, you should really be wearing a face mask or a face shield visor (or both) as you would be closer together.
You can order food from your favourite place if they are open. Alternatively, each of you could prepare a little something and bring it to the picnic (e.g. cake, sandwiches, juice). Nevertheless, you should make sure that your hands are clean when you are preparing what you are bringing to the picnic. Also, do not speak over it.
One of you brings a picnic towel, other brings speakers and all of you bring some food. Now you can all enjoy a nice time at the park or wherever you decide your picnic should take place.
3. Go To The Beach
Some of you might be a bit sceptical about going to the beach. Although COVID-19 might survive in the water for a few days, you are unlikely to get it according to this publication from Forbes.
Essentially, the motion of the ocean would dilute the virus very quickly. In the Forbes article, they give the analogy of a teenager having a few hairs on his face and claiming it is a beard. Just because there are a few hairs there it doesn’t mean it is a beard. In the same way, just because the virus can survive in water, it doesn’t mean that its concentration is large enough to infect you.
If you do decide to go to the beach with your friends, remember to bring sun lotion with you. Most likely, you’ve spent several days indoors and your skin might now be sensitive to sunlight.
A Few Last Words
Always keep in mind that independently of what outdoor activity you decide to share with your friends, you should respect social distancing, bring the super trio with you and avoid unnecessary contact with surfaces and others.
We know these restrictions suck, but it is to keep us all safe. This pandemic will go on until we find a vaccine. Even when the vaccine is found, it would take a few months for it to be available to everyone.
In the meantime, we must learn how to live with COVID-19. We can take precautions and still have a social life.
