Given the ongoing pandemic, our socials lives have become extremely limited. Avoiding unnecessary contact is a must! Meaning no hugs and no handshakes…

If you want to spend more time with your friends and at the same time limit contact with them, you can all share some online activities.

Netflix Party — Everyone Brings the Popcorns!

Everyone enjoys watching films every now and then.

You probably Skyped or FaceTimed with a closed friend, counted to three and both of you hit play in your laptops to watch something together.

Netflix has made this easier. You can now download the Netflix Google Chrome extension and create a group among your friends by using a Netflix shareable link provided by the extension. You can even chat while watching the film or TV series.

P.S.: Your friends must have the Netflix Google Chrome extension installed in their computers.

Don’t forget to get your popcorns! There’s no sharing this time =(

Zoom — Chat, Exercise and Exchange Ideas

Probably by now you already know what this is and have it in most of your devices.

Zoom is a great alternative to chat with your friends and catch up with what they’ve been up to lately! If you want to go wild, you can make a video call with up to 100 participants! More with paid add-ons.

With Zoom, a host needs to create an event and then share the meeting link and a password to the participants. Now you can all catch up and show each other what you’ve been up to lately.

You can even come up with a time of the day where you all can practice yoga or workout together in a virtual way. That will make sure you finish those push-ups!

Online Games — No, You Don’t Need a PlayStation…

Here are three cool games you can play with your friends on a video call:

  • Psych!: this app is from the creators of Heads Up! (by Ellen DeGeneres) and it has become quite popular during these times. The most popular category is ‘And the truth comes out’. Essentially, players must answer hypothetical questions about other players (e.g. If Hannah were a Disney Princess, who would they be?). This could lead to nice conversation topics and an enjoyable quality time with your friends. The leader of the game would create a game and share a secret code to the other members (that also must have the app) so they can join… Yeaaaah pretty much everything nowadays has a shared link/code.
  • Heads UP!: Couldn’t exclude this one… In case you are not familiar with this other Ellen’s app game, you can either play it as a team or individually. The basics are, you chose a topic place the phone in your forehead, a word/name will show up and you should guess what it is from the hints of your team or friends without looking at it. This is doable on a video call. The downside would be that everyone would need to use their phones and keep track manually of the scores. Nonetheless, sounds fun!
  • Charades: You can play charades when Zooming, FaceTiming, Skyping… and do people still use ooVoo?. Use a word generator for the game and have some fun!

Let us know what you think of these games. They might be the one thing you were needing to break the routine!
