How does BUFF’s ‘no mining’ process work?

Crypto enthusiasts are used to spending hefty sums on computing equipment to mine their favorite tokens. That’s just the way the model works. Miners offer up their computing power to keep the currency secure and verify transactions and they are rewarded for their contributions with sums of that token.

It’s a pretty good model, although it has its faults. Perhaps the biggest example is that individuals with nothing more than a personal computer or laptop simply can’t compete with more serious miners who have specially-constructed setups that consistently allow them to processes transactions quicker, leaving most of the world’s cryptocurrency wealth concentrated in the hands of a few. You know, nothing at all like the real-world economy (sarcastic eye roll).

But BUFF aimed from the outset to do something entirely different with the BUFF token. Rather than paying miners, BUFF wanted to reward gamers no matter what kind of computer set up they have or whether they even understand what cryptocurrencies are and how they work.

What BUFF came up with is something like an airline loyalty program. You probably don’t know how frequent flyer miles work, but that’s not the point and you don’t have to. You earn them simply by sitting in an airplane like you would be doing whether or not the loyalty program existed. Then you can use those miles to save you money on future flights.

The BUFF concept of “no mining” is similar. Rather than mining for BUFF coins, gamers just do what they normally do: game, game and game some more. BUFF coins are allocated to gamers based on time spend playing and in-game achievements. Those coins can then be redeemed for all kinds of virtual items across games and gaming platforms.

Did you earn some BUFF coins defeating a few opponents on Dota 2? They can be spent on virtual goods for League of Legends or any other BUFF-integrated games. And the best part is that gamers don’t need to make any extra effort to purposefully earn BUFF coins; the allocation process is performed entirely in the background — you won’t even know it’s happening until you look in your wallet and see all that BUFF.

This unique model doesn’t interfere with gameplay or require any additional expenses — BUFF is free to use! While players are rewarded with a form of wealth that helps fuel their gaming, game publishers benefit from new revenue streams, increased brand exposure and less marketing expenses. BUFF is a win for everyone involved, and we know how frustrating it can be to lose.
