I have been using Ubuntu for a while now with no issues running Chromium but suddenly a recent update won’t launch any browser.

I looked in this file to check for errors.

cat /var/log/syslog | grep -i chromium

In that file I can see that executing various applications is being denied by AppArmor. I don’t know why this doesn’t work now when it worked before.

At any rate this page explains all the things you need to do to adjust AppArmor policies.

When I look in /etc/apparmor.d I can see there is no profile for chromium:

I’ve seen a lot of crazy blog posts and Q & A telling people to do all manner of things unrelated to the actual problem.

Always check your logs to see what is causing problems and address the problem based on what is in your logs.
