Have you ever wondered what students from other courses and universities stuff their schoolbags with? Books, lined notebooks, pen, the usual stuff you bring to school like your limited edition headphones and holy-grail lipstick are to name a few. Some stick to basic. Many tend to personalize.

Join us here on Buhay Kolehiyo as we take a look inside the bags of our fellow students. We’ll feature the contents of your bag (books, gadgets, kikay necessities, whatever you normally bring to university~).

Maybe you’ve seen the “What’s in My Bag?” tag going around beauty gurus on YouTube or maybe you’ve seen #InsideMyBag from various people on Instagram. (There is a big chance you don’t know what I’m talking about, but that’s perfectly okay!) Looking into what other people put in their bags are mysteries and they often tell you many things about its owners. What tools do they use in laboratory and design subjects? Are Nursing students really (insert stereotype here)? Any secret tips on how male Tourism students keep their skin clear? What laptop would a Computer Engineering / Computer Science student recommend?

What’s Inside An Architecture Student’s Bag (PLM)?

We have Maan, 5th Year BS Architecture student from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, who volunteered to give us a peek inside her bag. She told us she likes to sketch a lot “anywhere, anytime”, and has habit of hoarding sketchpads and journals (but leaves most of them half-empty lol). She’s an active student, evident when she took position as Public Relations Officer on her third year and as Vice President the year after in the College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) Student Council. Currently, she’s a member of the PLM Iskolars Dance Incorporated.

This is the Samsonite Y Series Backpack YB600, and Maan tells us a few reasons why she loves this bag. For someone who carries a large laptop (needed to properly render 3D models/images), this spacious “black hole” of a bag is a definite must-have. The compartments help her stay organized. “It’s tough,” she says, “I need something as heavy-duty as this because I bring too many things even on ordinary non-design days.” And even though the bag might be a little big, Maan gives it five stars for comfort. :D

Q: What is one thing your bag is not complete without?
Maan: Long Clearbook. THESIS. All the research and documents we obtain go right here.

“Marami talagang dinadala,” Maan comments, “Drafting tools, rendering tools, bukod pa ang minor subject materials. Lalo na kapag lower year, may PE pa. Kaya gigantic ang mga bag ng arki. Pag higher year ka na mas maliit na!” (note that Maan is already a super senior)

When asked about what makes Architecture in PLM different from bigger schools, she said “Well-trained sa manual way of doing plates. And more on practicality sa class.”

Q: Anything you want to say to other college students?
Maan: Quality is more important than quantity.

Are you an Architecture student too? From what school are you and how does the content of her bag differ from yours?
