The Most Valuable Thing in a Relationship

Final rope check by our CEO, Laurie Schultz, before rappelling down

It has been quite awhile since I wrote a post on our blog. My role with the team has changed several times ever since. I will write another blog post about my career growth with ACL. Currently, I am the manager of the UX team. Nowadays, my role focuses heavily on supporting the team to make sure we provide everyone with the right ingredients to succeed.

Since I joined the company, the UX team has doubled its size almost every year, over the course of four years. Most recently, we went through another round of growth spurt. If you have a child, you definitely know how a growth spurt feels like. It usually requires a lot of energy to take in all the changes. It is, however, very much easier to navigate through a growth spurt with the support from your partner.

I have had many opportunities to collaborate with the Talent team of ACL from the past two years. There are a lot of positive words to describe the team behind the scenes. “Insightful,” “fun,” “helpful,” “thoughtful,” and “always there” are just to name a few.

We usually receive a lot of applications for an opening. The process of bringing someone on board is normally started with sorting through a lot of resumes, organizing, screening candidates, coordinating on-site interviews, trying to align interviewing committee schedule, following up after interviews, making offer, checking a candidate’s background, coordinating with a hiring manager, welcoming a new hire, preparing for orientations, etc. The list goes on and on. It is a very involved and time consuming process to go through every step of that process. With the insights and thoughtful support from our partners on the Talent team, it has become a positive and great experience. In a relationship, when your partner is always there for you, you know that is the most valuable thing.

On behalf of the UX team, I’d like to thank everyone on Talent team: Kathy Enros, Martha Carscadden, Sarah Hangaman, Shona Wilson and Rachel Kramer. They all are amazing.

Finally, don’t take my words for it. The head of our Talent team, Kathy Enros, is on the news. If you are interested in more, there is only one way to find out. Check out our current open positions: https://www.acl.com/about-us/careers/open-positions/
