Pleasing Everyone Is a Trap You Don’t Need
Some people don’t want to be happy. That’s okay.
When I started doing graphic design, I was naive.
I had a simple thought that my job was to make every client happy.
If someone didn’t like my work, I was a failure in my mind.
I would spend hours trying to please them, fixing things they didn’t even ask for, and doubting myself the whole time.
It cost me so much time and energy, that I cannot describe it.
Then, one day, I said stop.
Not everyone wants to be happy.
Some clients are never satisfied, no matter what you do.
And that’s okay.

When “Good Enough” Was Never Enough
I once had a client who wanted a new logo.
I worked hard on it. I spent hours finding the perfect color and the right font. I showed them the design, and they said, “It’s good, but I don’t love it.”
So, I went back to the drawing board.
I changed the colors. I tried a different style. I showed them again, and they said, “It’s not quite there yet.”
