This article intends to entertain you, providing you with some cool statistics and information concerning Bitcoin. Let’s have some fun and I hope you will enjoy it. At first, I present some information about Bitcoin in general. Then, I share some brilliant stories about it, just for fun.

  • Today, September 15th 2022, Bitcoin’s price is $19,841.09. There are 19,150,966 BTC in circulation and, therefore, it has a total market capitalization of $379.9B.
  • The average time between blocks is 10m 13s and there is a total of 754,223 blocks in the blockchain.
  • The whole blockchain’s size is only approximately 500GB.
  • The current block reward is 6.25BTC.
  • The maximum supply is hard-capped at 21M BTC.

Cool Statistics and fun facts

  • The first block was created in 2019–01–03 and the miner earned 50BTC, which today would be approximately equal to $1M. The hash of the first block is 000000000019d6689c085ae165831e934ff763ae46a2a6c172b3f1b60a8ce26f.
  • Currently, there are 7,820,751,245 people on earth and they increase every second. This means that there are approximately 0.00244879BTC for every person on earth.
  • There are 200 million Bitcoin wallets at the moment, of which only 400,000 are daily active.
  • The Bitcoin network processes more than 270,000 transactions per day.

Interesting and fun stories

Bitcoin pizza day

In May 22nd 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz posted the following request on a Bitcoin forum: “I’ll pay 10,000 Bitcoins for a couple of pizzas. Like maybe 2 large ones so I have some left over for the next day. I like having left over pizza to nibble on later”. Two days later, he confirmed that he had implemented the transaction. In fact, this day has been an anniversary for Bitcoin. Laszlo paid 10,000 BTC for two large pizzas, which back then was equal to $40. Today, it would be equal to $190M.

El Salvador

In September 2021, El Salvador becomes the first country to make Bitcoin legal tender. According to tweets and statements from President Nayib Bukele, the government has bought more than 2,000 Bitcoin so far. Today, El Salvador has a plan for a tax-free crypto mining hub called “Bitcoin City”.
