An Open Opportunity
If you love data science and startups, you’ll love working at a new company BuildGroup is launching called BuildGroup Data Services.
BuildGroup is an investment holding company (founded by former leaders at Rackspace) that backs modern SaaS companies — which can probably best be described as SaaS applications informed and powered by data, and built on the power of an open network.
And since we believe in backing companies powered by data and open networks, we’re building our own new company the same way.
Working at BuildGroup Data Services is a special, ground floor opportunity to build (and rename) a new company. Anyone joining us will get to work side by side with the BuildGroup team daily to help map the investment decision making process and put it all into algorithms and code.
And we already have a motivated customer (BuildGroup) that we’ll be working with to define, build and test this new platform that we think will one day help solve specific problems for the broader investment markets.
This journey started in 2018 as our internal initiative to build a system to source, evaluate and monitor investments that BuildGroup would make using its $330 million in investment capital.
But we have much higher aspirations for this platform and think it can help democratize and open up the private investing markets so anyone wanting to participate in building the future can.
That’s why we’re spinning BuildGroup Data Services out into a separate company and why we recently acquired a data driven company on a similar mission (PreSeries) to help us accelerate.
Right now, our immediate objective is to find the right people to join BGDS and help us build it out. (And find a better name.)
This is why we’re excited to talk to the data scientists, quant strategists, developers, UI gurus, product specialists and business innovators that can help us do it.
And once we do it for BuildGroup, we’re going to release it to the world.
