
High Tech startup co-founders looking for executive sales assistant
Hello, we are Pinky and the Brain behind one of the fastest growing marketing technology startups in United States… or at least this is what my wife calls us every time we are having a world domination strategy session in between a call with Asia at midnight and a call with Middle East at 2am.
I am Alex (https://www.facebook.com/alex.yastrebenetsky) and I am technically the CEO, while Michael is primarily focused on new business development and account management.
Our company has around 22 people all focused on two things — consulting services for some of the largest brands and e-commerce websites in the world and product development. We have great momentum with the products we bootstrapped from day one that are getting used at some of the most exciting companies in the world.
However, we have a problem, hence an opportunity. Our stuff is complex, very complex and so far we have not had much luck with hiring sales people. So we decided to try something new.
We are going to open a position of executive sales administrator. Don’t worry, you are not going to be stuck with a boring ass title like that. We’ll call you Chief Time Hacker or something along those lines. While Michael and I have managed to learn a few things about a few things, human cloning is certainly not one of them and we need somebody to not only make sure we are using our time in the best way possible, but also to take over a lot of sales and marketing-related projects.
This may be an incredible opportunity for somebody without formal sales experience to get into a rewarding and high paying career in high tech sales. We are asking for a year from you, after that we will be happy to promote you into another role as long as you train your replacement. Or maybe this is something you are going to love doing for the next 10 years.
How the Role Works
We need someone to partner with, who can be fully trusted with managing appointments, email, doing a lot of social media work — both posting and “listening”, as well as working on the presentations, booking airfare, researching companies and prospects, as well as coordinating some aspects of our professional lives. We are going to compensate you in the top quartile of the salary range for this position, because I know you will work a lot of hours and carry a lot of our worries as your worries.
We need you to be in the office when we are in the office, relieving us of administrative work so that I can focus on responsibilities that come with leading the company.
What we need from you
The most important thing we are looking from you is an ability to anticipate and be proactive. Also, you need to have great communication skills when you are representing us over the phone or occasionally in person. Finally, this is not a technical role, and we are not expecting knowledge of digital marketing or software development technologies, but you must be awesome with using internet, gmail, calendar and social media.
What we are like to work with
Personality-wise, we are as different as it gets and we constantly yell at each other, but thats because friction creates fire and we are so passionate about what we do. One thing I can guarantee is that you are not going be getting conflicting directions. We yell at each other but what the rest of the world sees is always one opinion, one direction. Between the two of us we may occasionally ask you to do multiple things at the same time, and if you are really good at your job, you are going to work with us at figuring out how to get prioritize and get things done, as opposed to working against us and using requests coming from Alex as an excuse to “look busy” to Michael and the other way around.
We work extremely hard, but we are extremely protective and caring of the people we work with. We started the company with one principle above all else — build the best place for people to work and attract the best people.
