Welcome — What’s on this site?

From Doron and Amanda…

Hello! This site is for all BSc Psychology students in their second year of study, taking either of the PSYC21000 Career Management Unit (CMU) or PSYC22000 Short Work Placement (SWP) units.

The site is designed to provide you with a range of useful tools, tips and ideas and to support you in completing the digitally based reflective blogs within these units. It is also the place for you to publish (submit) your blog posts. There are a range of useful posts and information around digital skills, reflection, and opportunities to build on your digital skills or use them in the future when you graduate.

The assignments, module content and resources all aim to support you in building your digital capability irrespective of your particular career interests. Click on the images below to learn more about digital literacy.

This site uses Medium. Medium is a platform that enables you to create and share blogs easily and effectively. It is an open access platform enabling all students on the programme to learn to use this tool, to publish their own blogs and to be inspired and learn from others. Support is easily available and you can access and share information across a broad network. You can find out more about Medium if you want at: About Medium

What’s on this site? You will see that there are separate tabs depending on whether you are completing your blog assignment as part of the the Short Work Placement (SWP) or Career Management Unit (CMU) module and under those tabs you will find the assignment requirements, and marking criteria. Use Support for all the help available to make your assignment effective and to build your digital skills. Once published, yours and other students’ blog posts can be found under Student Submissions. You might find it odd that you can read other students’ blogs, and that they can read yours, but we are working in a spirit of open access and knowledge sharing. We trust that our contributors (you and your fellow students) will post their own, independent work but recognise that you can gain inspiration and ideas from those around you. Why not capture that in your coursework? You edit your stories right up until the submission/deadline date, and choose when to ‘publish’. But don’t forget you will also need to upload a word version of your blog to good old Blackboard!

Finally you should look at the Your Future in Digital? to read about all the things you could do whilst at university to continue on your digital journey and grow your skills (whatever your career interests). For example, how will you use your digital skills in the world of work, which ones are needed most by employers?

Any questions?

If you have any questions, please contact us through the discussion board for your module on Blackboard.

Thank you. Thanks to all our contributors to this platform including our student bloggers, alumni volunteer contributors and you, all our students. You are building a valuable resource.
