B+ with Bertelsmann India Investments

A team that exercises together, stays together. With an aim to keep the morale high and cholesterol low, we organized the annual Bertelsmann India Health Week 2020 during April 1–7. As working from home can take a toll on health, especially with limited mobility and information overload on COVID19, we decided to take a pause, heal ourselves from the mental stress and bond as a team.

Here’s a quick look into what we did in these 7 days:

Going beyond scrub, rinse & repeat

So after having shared guidelines on the right way to wash hands (yeah, we did that. ‘Coz better alert than sorry), we gave a shout to those yoga mats and dancing shoes. Online Fitness and Yoga classes with The Art of Living and Akshar yoga, not only focused on physical fitness but also mental wellness.

Play to slay the stress

This isn’t a bad time to do a quick recap of our childhoods before workaholism gets the best of us, again. Online gaming tournaments have brought out the child in us and whoa! We’ve also found some super gamers in the team.

Raise a Toast to Health

Dalgona coffee may be trending but it’s Health Week! So, to inspire our team to give healthy drinks a try we gamified that too! We encouraged our colleagues to shake- up their favourite recipes and raise a virtual toast. In the process, we all learnt a little more about the hidden benefits of our traditional fruits, vegetables and spices.

Rejuvenating reads

A book can make you travel without leaving the couch! And with the best publishers in the world on our side Penguin Randome house and DKIndia, we rolled out book recommendations on mental wellness, fitness, nutrition, and positivity. Some of the books we shared:

  • I’m Not Stressed: Secrets for a Calm Mind and a Healthy Body by Deanne Panday
  • Practical Mindfulness: A step-by-step guide by Ken A Verni
  • My Zero-Waste Kitchen: Easy Ways to Eat Waste Free by Kate Turner
  • Glow: Indian Foods, Recipes and Rituals for Beauty, Inside and Out by Vasudha Rai
  • Body Goddess by Payal Gidwani

Other than adding some more book worms to our team, we’ve made some interesting discoveries over the past week. Emailers are the new rangolis and much like the sight of a decorated office would inject some enthusiasm in us, updates about how others are staying fit has put a spring in the few steps our Fitbits record. We found our new work out buddies and gaming partners, we shared our anxieties and motivations, and above all we came together to be what we call — the B+ team. So, to all of you, take some time out and call each other, share a chai break or banter over breakfast. We will get through this together.
