We shipped more major product updates last month than in any previous month. Here’s the recap:

Posts

You can now keep a lightweight, great-looking blog on your site. For free. This changes the dynamic of Universe sites: they’re no longer static pages, but always up-to-date sites.

Pages

Another huge one: your site can now have as many pages as you want. Here’s how it works: on your site’s dashboard, you’ll see a new Pages option, where you’ll be able to create and manage your pages. When you make a new page, it will automatically show up as a tab on your site. That’s it.

High Resolution Grid

You can now change the resolution of the grid. In addition to the classic 3-up, you can now go 4 or 5 blocks wide. What this means in practice: you get way more room for blocks. With the 3-up grid, you can put 18 blocks on a single screen. With the 5-up, you can add 50.

Four New Blocks

We added new blocks for Youtube, Vimeo, Soundcloud, and Giphy. You can now add any video, track, or GIF to your site super easily. Search is instant and infinite. The internet is your palette.

Better Explore

We added categories to Explore. Now you can browse and discover sites across art, music, fashion, and more. We’ll be updating categories frequently to surface the most interesting sites created on the network.

This was a very big month for us. We significantly evolved what Universe sites can be. But the ultimate measure of our success is how our tools get used. On this account, these updates have been hugely successful. Our community is creating incredible new sites using all of the latest features.

Zooming out, this update marks almost a year since launching our 1.0. I’ve kept monthly updates here tracking our progress over the year. It’s not a stretch to say that Universe has grown 10x more powerful, useful, and fun since launching. Instead of monolithic releases, we shipped almost every week.

It’s been a thrilling, inspiring 12 months. But it’s only Day 1. Moving forward, in the spirit of faster, tighter iterations, I’ll post all of our future updates on our site. See you there.
