At Bulb, you have a few options if you’re facing financial difficulties. We offer payment extensions and deferred payment plans. We can also help you find local and state assistance.

Payment assistance

There are two main ways we can help you with overdue bills:

Bill extension
We can extend any bill up to 10 days past its original due date. This only applies to a single bill at a time and can’t be applied toward your account balance.

Deferred payment
We can set up a deferred payment plan. This payment plan can be applied toward a single bill or your account balance.

To set up a plan, we’ll need to take an initial installment of 50% of your past due balance or account balance. You’ll also need an active payment method on file for AutoPay.

The remaining 50% would need to be paid within 30 days. If you set up a payment plan between July and September, this remainder can be paid over 5 months. A switch hold will be placed on your meter until you’ve completed your payment plan.

A switch hold is an electronic lock that is placed on your electric meter by a previous energy provider. This can happen for one of two reasons:

  • You or a previous resident agreed to a deferred payment plan and there’s an outstanding balance
  • Your utility company found out your meter was tampered with

Local Organizations

There are also many organizations across the state that may be able to provide utility bill assistance. Learn more about what’s available in your area here. You’ll need to reach out to the organization in your area to see if you qualify for assistance and provide any necessary information yourself.
