As the Sorting Hat rightfully said, Gryffindor is the house “Where dwell the brave at heart”
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry/ Set Gryffindors apart”. Gryffindors are known to be good at heart and mighty brave. In the harry Potter universe, this is also the house our eponymous hero hails from.
It is the house that most of the good and some of the best wizards are from. And the best among the best, these wizards are the best Gryffindors if there ever was one.
1. Hermione Granger
It needs no mention that Hermione ‘cleverest witch of her year’ Granger is truly brave. From having a cool head in the face of danger to going to any extent to protect the ones she loves, she is one of the best Gryffindors ever.
2. Minerva McGonagall
Hexes are used against mountain trolls to stun them, and Deputy Headmistress McGonagall took 4 during the battle of Hogwarts and still kept fighting. A true Gryffindor!
3. Ron Weasley
Spiders were Ron Weasley’s worst nightmare, but he didn’t think twice before going into Aragog’s cave since that had the possibility of saving Hermione. And that is just one of the many heroic things he did over the years, even though he didn’t have to.
4. James Potter
Harry’s father James may have been a bully during his formative years, but he quickly came out of it. From befriending a werewolf to sharing his home with his abused best friend, he was also inherently good natured. But he was one of the bravest men, who tried saving his wife and child by fighting Voldemort without even his wand!
5. Neville Longbottom
As Dumbledore once said, “It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.” Neville Longbottom showed that courage when he was just 11 years of age, and he didn’t stop being courageous ever since.

6. Lily Evans Potter
Despite the little time she got in both the books and the movies, Lily Potter established herself as a true Gryffindor. She stood up against bullies and finally sacrificed her life trying to save her son.
7. Harry Potter
There is a “difference between being dragged into the arena to face a battle to the death and walking into the arena with your head held high” and Harry Potter was the second kind of brave. He was the best of the best Gryffindors, always carrying the cross someone else left off, fighting a battle to death that he never signed up for.
8. Remus Lupin
Remus Lupin may have had his faults, but he tried to do the right thing till his last breath — from spying among the werewolves to trying to fight off Death eaters to make the world a better place for his son.
9. Molly Weasley
Silently choosing the right path even when the world is against it is one of the most courageous things one can do, and Molly Weasley did that time and again. She also raised 7 of the bravest Gryffindors, and killed Bellatrix Lestrange!
10. Augusta Longbottom
Neville Longbottom’s Grandmother was a Gryffindor through and through. Not only did she raise Neville all by herself after his parents were tortured into insanity, she also sent a Death eater in St.Mungo’s after he came after her!
Though Gryffindors are known to be foolishly brave at times, being brave is never a bad thing, and that is exactly what sets them apart from the rest.
