The 30 remaining National Football League teams that haven’t yet moved to Los Angeles will do so by next season. It’s an unprecedented move for a major American sports league, which traditionally spreads teams out across the country, and in many cases, into Canada.

“[The NFL] was hoping to alienate the rest of its fan base by the 2018 season. This just puts us on a more direct path.”

“Los Angeles has everything we could ever want,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “Traffic, smog, uninterested fans, widespread homelessness and no water. It’s a perfect match.”

The former St. Louis Rams and San Diego Chargers both moved to L.A. over the past year. “Our city welcomes all of the other teams,” said Mayor Eric Garcetti. “We’ll need to build 30 new luxury stadiums quickly, but we don’t see it as a problem.”

After the Rams arrived for the 2016 season, television ratings in L.A. actually declined. “Not a concern,” said Goodell. “We were hoping to alienate the rest of our fan base by the 2018 season. This just puts us on a more direct path.”
