“Drown” in October
Days 1–10
Thesis Statement: After realizing I often forget the things I read every day, I decided to dedicate October to copying down poems and other writing that inspires me. Every day, I will write down something I recently read/heard. I will also rewrite everything I wrote on the previous days. I will record myself reading from the journal several times during October in an effort to memorize everything I have written.
It occurred to me early on in this process that what I was doing was a bit unhealthy and more than a little neurotic. It is a clear attempt to combat forgetfulness, even though forgetting things is both natural and inevitable. Because of this, I have titled the project “Drown”, because the project’s objective is to overwhelm myself with the things I find inspiring/entertaining.
