I Get the Job Done

It’s late. Everyone else has gone home. I sit at my computer and look out the window. The streets are empty. I want to go home and watch TV and snuggle with the cat. But I have work to do. Very important work. I’m on hold with the cable company. I’m going to speak to someone who knows what they’re doing. I’m going to fix this problem. I don’t care how long it takes. I’m getting this job done. The hold music makes me want to fall asleep. I’ll be there for you soon, I tell the cat (in my mind). I’ll cuddle with you soon, cat.
