James Cameron has run into some financial trouble in his quest to continue the story of the Na’vi.

On Tuesday, the acclaimed film director set up a GoFundMe page to help bring the sequels to his Avatar epic to the big screen.

“There are so many questions that need to be answered from the first one,” Cameron’s description of his project on the GoFundMe page reads. “Anything you can give helps, even $1.”

The first Avatar film, released in 2009, was a critical darling, but flopped at the box office, earning only $2.7 billion worldwide.

Cameron, who has since struggled to convince studios and investors to back his vision, promises the next four films set in the Avatar world will “be even cooler” and reach a wider audience.

“The blue guys will be back,” said Cameron. “Big time.”

Cameron’s GoFundMe page has a set goal of $300 million. It has so far grossed over $150, though most of the contributions have come from people who appear to be related to the director.

Cameron has been sharing the fundraising page repeatedly on social media, and encouraging others to do the same, writing things such as “Let’s do this” and “I’m almost there!”

There’s no telling yet whether the effort will be successful, but Cameron says his vision and passion for the story will be enough to bring the films to life.

“I’m committed to telling the story of the blue guys,” Cameron said. “So, I’m taking to the streets. I know that if the studio heads don’t believe in me anymore, the fans will.”
