Warren Beatty displays the correct envelope at the 89th Academy Awards Ceremony

LOS ANGELES, CA — In what is being described as a piece of “branded content” PwC, the tax and audit firm responsible for the accurate reporting of the winners of the Academy Awards ceremony for the last 89 years handed the wrong envelope to actors Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty as they took the stage to announce the winner of the Best Picture category at Sunday’s awards ceremony.

Mr. Beatty stalled upon seeing the wrong information on the contents of his envelope. Ms. Dunaway took the slip of paper from him, apparently thinking he was joking, and read the name of the film on the paper, ignoring that it was from the wrong category.

La La Land was announced as the winner, and shortly after the producers finished their acceptance speech, it was announced that Moonlight was in fact the winner, and the awards ceremony was thrown into disarray.

“In the entire lifetime of the Academy Awards, 3,048 statues have been given away. We think hit rate of 3,047 to 1 is pretty good,” said PwC representative Joshua Morgenstern.

“If we only make one mistake every 3,048 times on your taxes, that’s a hell of a lot better than fucking H&R Block. Tax season is right around the corner!”
