Roommates Down to Last Clean Bowl
As New York City hunkered down for Winter Storm Stella, the residents of apartment 2A on Bushwick’s 322 Melrose Street found themselves facing a shortage de Blasio hadn’t prepared them for: a single remaining clean bowl.
Karen Foster and Clayton Tanenbomb, who’ve been living together since September, had eaten a lot of soup the previous weekend, and their cleaner had to postpone his usual Tuesday visit because of the snow.
“Are you planning on eating any cereal today?” Foster asked nervously as she opened the cupboard.
Tanenbomb glanced at the sink. “I was, but…” The two eyed each other, each trying to remember a past grievance she could lord over the other.
The tension was finally broken when Tanenbomb opened the Tupperware drawer and pulled out a square-shaped plastic container.
“I’ll use this,” he offered valiantly.
At press time, Tanenbomb was eating cereal with a measuring spoon, because all the regular spoons were dirty.
