Gramercy Park is one of the city’s hottest locked parks, accessible only to those who’ve been given keys to the city for acts of heroism like making a lot of money in finance or making a lot of money in entertainment.

But real New Yorkers know there’s a workaround to getting in without a key: following Michael Bloomberg inside.

“He falls for it every time,” says 26-year-old East Village resident Alissa Hamler, who enjoys taking her lunch break in the park. “I just run up behind him and yell, ‘Hold the door!’ And then when he turns around I’m just like, ‘Thanks — my key’s really far down in my bag.’”
