A reminder to my friends and LGBTQ allies. Standing up for LGBTQ rights is different from whom you choose to work with when it comes to queer rights. Each one of us have different political leaning and affiliation. We hold certain values close to us along with our politics. The LGBTQ community is not singular and we are as diverse as every other demography. We are part of this society and we grew/grow up with all the good and bad in the society. The LGBTQ community range from rightwing to left. So, if you are someone who have started to talk about queer rights recently, or is planning to include LGBTQ rights in your political/social/academic/workplace discussion; the only request I have for you is to first understand the LGBTQ community, the groups/individuals that/who are working for LGBTQ rights and then choose whom you want to associate with based on your ideology (including me). For example; refusing to work with an LGBTQ group that upholds caste supremacy doesn’t make you queerphobic. And this also mean that you see queer individuals as people who have more than our sexuality and gender.
