Pondicherry Blues
Back to Pondicherry after quite some time. The first thing I noticed when I entered was the banners!!!. Mon beau Pondichéry was free of these banners in the past. But they have occupied the walls of the city in the recent time, I was happy when they removed these banners for a short while. But now I am afraid that these might take up the beauty of the city again. I hope not.
Earlier there were more bicycles, and it was a different sight to see so many bicycles. But now, there are more cars and motor cycles. They are too much for this little town, I find it over crowded like any other big city. Though it cannot avoid, I am sad that I cannot see the bicycles lining up the streets.
Not to forget the beach, there is considerable improvement in the development of the pavement than before, but I wish they remove the broken benches on the pavement opposite to the sea and replace them with a new one. I miss sitting on those benches late night and talking with my friends. Also, the renovation that is going on near the children’s park makes me happy, but would have been better if they put up a sign that the place is under renovation as not many tourists know that the place is being renovated, the mess looked like an unattended park.
As usual, the water level in the sea has increased, which can be controlled only if the whole world takes up the responsibility. But it is always the same feeling to sit on the rocks and to watch the vast sea.
Where ever I go, I do not forget to have ice cream, how can I miss when I go
back to Pondicherry. Visited the same old Richy Rich, it looks the same, the size, the ambience and the taste. I didn’t find the events notice board which has the posters of the upcoming events of the city. Guess they removed it now.
In spite of being a native of Pondicherry I never bothered to take photograph of my place, the simple reason may be because, each and every frame of the town is in my mind. But this time I made it sure to take some pictures.
My friend and me set out on Sunday morning to take some pictures, we were totally disappointed to see the crowd on Sunday early morning. We never expected such crowd at that time. As I said, it has changed a lot. I don’t feel the privacy I used to have once. We managed to take some shots in some isolated places.
Not to forget, we went to our school and took some shots there, since the inner gate was locked, we were not able to get inside, but the main gate was open, so we took some pictures from outside and the parking lot.
Now back at work…obviously with Pondicherry Blues!!!
