You know your friend is from Pondicherry when…

• They constantly complain about how much they have to travel to reach their destination and how boring other cities are.
• They get offended when someone asks if Pondy is located in Tamil Nadu. (I know Pondy is not a part of Tamil Nadu, but geographically it is located in Tamil Nadu)
• They would have been to Aurobindo ashram only when their relatives visited Pondicherry.
• They would have been to every part of the town, but would go blank when asked for a street by its name.
• They think that Pondicherry Engineering College is the best institute in India :P
• When someone mentions thanni (water) they would confirm if they referred to drinking water.
• They swear on their life and say that Pondy is the cleanest place and has the best roads (???) in India.
• They prefer two wheeler over car.
• They boast that Pondy is a good shopping destination, but would struggle to mention a store name to buy branded shoe :P.
• They consider Pondicherry to be a metropolitan city :D

Few things I tried to jot down, but I bet there are lot more. Every place has its own charm and the locals love certain aspects which might be odd for others. Whatever it is, I always feel home at Pondicherry and miss it.
