First week with prompts
We set out ~8 months ago to make recording mini-podcasts easy enough that it could be done anywhere by anyone. This meant it had to be an app, and it had to let you edit audio even if you don’t know or care what an audio waveform is, or what compression and equalization are. That app is Bumpers.fm.
But one of the biggest pieces of feedback, understandably, was people weren’t sure what to talk about. They saw the utility but couldn’t think of any couldn’t think of any exciting or funny content to share. This is especially true with our rather small (~150 users) current TestFlight community. So as we are ramping up Bumpers we wanted to start trying out some different Prompts that the community could get around. We released our first one this last Tuesday called “Does your pet even like you?”

Bumpers, and any spoken audio really, that is only featuring a single person will always be more difficult to create than Bumpers highlighting a conversation. Conversations are just naturally more interesting, and really let the format shine. But turns out when you prompt people just a little bit you get some really great stories and opinion. So here are some of our favorites that were made over the last week:
This one, done by Nick (who is an investor in Bumpers) is definitely one of my favorites. Probably because I remember this rabbit saga when it was happening and it is nice to have it memorialized on Bumpers.
Here Sara is really getting into some deep analysis about whether cats can truly love. In this Bumper she is talking about the cat Lady that we both own (you can also listen to my Bumper titled LADY IS A TINY JERK) and the answer in my opinion is a definitive NO cats can not love.
Finally Morgane (who is one of my fav new bumpererers you should check out her profile) talks about her own cats. My actual reason for including this is because the cover photo of her cats just so pissed off at her very existence really answers the prompt itself, but I guess the Bumper is nice also.
Anyways unsurprisingly most of our responses were about cats. Although Lina & Drew (of Make Your Own Dildo Bumpers fame *NSFW as much as any audio can be NSFW*) did make one episode about their dogs multiple personalities:
Anyways that is it. It has been really fun seeing everyone's episodes and we figured we would show off our sick new Medium embeds by rounding up some of the responses to the prompt. Look for a new prompt next week (and every week after that) and we can’t wait to see what you record.
If you want to hear more Bumpers check out our homepage at bumpers.fm and follow us on twitter at twitter.com/bumpersfm.
