This creator edits incredible photos.
Erik Johansson mashes up photos to create unreal compositions that, as you look closer, melt your brain. His is images tend to pop up on popular image sites like imgur, reddit, etc. Recently I saw this reddit post and dug a bit deeper to learn that he posts amazing ‘behind the scenes’ videos on his YouTube channel, has a great portfolio website, and gave a TED talk in 2011 that’s got 5+ million views (TED.com + YouTube).
Below is one of his YouTube videos showing the diverse mix of skills, techniques, and tools that he uses to create his art. It’s fun to see him go from walking around outside, taking photos, cutting paper, transforming layers, painting brand new images, mixing real with fake, and a ton more. So much goes into each of these!
Erik is a true artisan.
He creates such intriguing images that seem to distort reality. They seem to go beyond the creative envelope when it comes to pushing tools like Photoshop to their limits.
