So what? Why is it so important?

Everyone has intuition whether they realise it or not. It can be the feeling that something is wrong, or an immediate judgement of someone you have only just met – a ‘good’ or ‘bad’ vibe you get from something or someone without knowing why. Intuition may draw you to a certain place without understanding the reason behind it. Or it may prevent you from doing something just because of a bad feeling.

For centuries intuition has been something that society viewed as ‘less than’ or a bit crazy. Especially for women. Back in the 1500 & 1600’s it was dangerous for women to make their intuition known and many were branded ‘witch’ simply for using their own innate gifts.

Much of this viewpoint stems back to a time when science was in its infancy and deemed to be more important than a person’s gut instinct. Religion also played a significant part at that time. When Christianity was being brought in and older more Pagan religions being phased out; along with the witch trials era; intuition was deemed as the work of the devil, evil, and associated strongly with witchcraft. All aspects of the feminine were denied and suppressed and therefore this inherent part of ourselves has been suppressed, ignored and feared for centuries.

Rise of the Divine Feminine

With the rising of the Divine Feminine once more, people are becoming more aware, more in tune with themselves and learning to develop, trust and follow their own intuition.

Part of developing your intuition is much like developing and flexing a muscle. You need to use it to develop it. Follow your hunch, follow your gut, even if you don’t know why or it makes little sense. It may just lead you to the answer you have been seeking or to somewhere better, or to the one person who can help you and that you need to meet. It may lead you seemingly nowhere, but no action is ever for nothing. It may be that the answer reveals itself to you some time later down the line.

For centuries people have been taught about God being the Higher Power and how that power is outside of us. The rise of the Divine Feminine is showing us a different way and helping us all to remember what has been forgotten. She is showing us that the power is also inside of ourselves and the two form a perfect union together. Masculine and feminine. Working in perfect harmony. Whether you were born male or female. We all have this innate power, we just need to learn to use it.

Personal experiences

Previously I wrote about my own spiritual awakening and during this time I had some very magical experiences and lessons in learning to trust my own intuition. One time I was walking on a local beach and I felt strongly to collect some of the beautiful seashells. So I was looking at the sand but not seeing any. I was guided to close my eyes and allow my intuition and my body to lead me to the shells. It was an exercise in trust as well as developing my own inner guidance. I collected lots of lovely shells that day!

During the Dark Night

During my first dark night of the soul I stopped following lots of Spirtual teachers. I felt all the energies coming from them and it was all too overwhelming for my system that was being completely rewired. Again I felt strongly that this was an opportunity to go deeper with my own intuition and to really develop my own inner guidance. So I stopped following all the people I had been and focused entirely on what I was feeling in my body. What was my body communicating to me at any given time? The body and its electro-magnetic field acts like an antenna – receiving and transmitting all of the information from the Field and the Universe and filtering this for our own use. We only have to learn to listen. Even perceived negative feelings such as anxiety have a message for us. A general rule of thumb for me is if I feel good, alive, excited, and it’s a big ‘yes’ then to go with that. If something feels heavy, draining, negative and isn’t an immediate and definite ‘yes’ then it’s a no!

Learning to Listen

When I started to develop my intuition I started letting myself drop into my heart space. If I had a decision to make or a question I wanted answered I would place my hand on my heart and ask my mind to take a well earned rest. I would then ask the question or pose the decision. If the ‘reply’ or feeling felt good as above then I knew it was a yes. Over time I learned to trust what I was feeling. Now I know very quickly whether something is a yes or a no. And if there is any doubt at all, even a niggle then it’s a no!

Messages & Systems

Over the years I have developed my own system. I receive numbers – either repeating or mirroring, and I have used various books and websites to decipher these as I go. I don’t think it matters which one you choose as long as you use it consistently. You may also choose to tune in to your own inner guidance about what these messages are telling you. I also receive music and messages via songs. And lastly I receive messages via car or van number plates or from the writing on the side of lorries etc. I also have birds that act as messengers for me. It’s all very magical! This is all the Universe (or your guides or angels), whichever you prefer to call it, communicating with you. You may not fully understand the messages, some may be clearer than others. Some are awakening codes. But know that when you see them you can take some time to tune in to the message and see what you receive. They may be telling you that you are on the right track. They may be giving you some kind of warning about something that is up ahead.

I haven’t always trusted my own inner guidance, I used to doubt myself and my own abilities, but when I do it has always worked out. Sometimes I haven’t listened because I wanted something so badly….and it fell through. So now, after those experiences, I always listen. The more you use it the more honed it becomes and it is now second nature to me.

Being True to You

Developing and following your intuition enables you to be true to you and to follow the best path for you at any given time. It is a journey of great reward and wonder when you start to pay attention and trust and believe in yourself. This is why it is important. Your path is unique to you, your intuition is FOR you. No-one else. So set forth on your journey of discovery and see where it takes you!
