When you find yourself in the pit.

When life seems bleak, how do you cope?

Do you resort to emotional eating and retail therapy?

Do you ask yourself, ‘what do I have, to feel blessed?’

Let’s take a moment and start counting:

  • loved ones who support you
  • good health
  • a little hope
  • things that make you laugh
  • roof over your head
  • food in your kitchen, and so on

Our simple everyday pleasures often go unnoticed. Can you spot them? All the artistry, bliss, and truth that is typically overlooked.

Track your feelings. When you experience gratitude, how does it impact your life? Aren’t you feeling happier, liberated and, more giving?

Have you ever come across some random video on internet where someone who has been unable to see for their entire life, finally got a surgery to restore sight, which allows them to see. How seeing their loved ones for the first time, moved them all to tears. The gratitude on their faces, in that moment, was unmatched.

When we acknowledge the goodness in our life, we say ‘YES’ to life. We affirm that life actually has a lot to make it worth living.

The origin of this goodness lies outside the self.

Gratitude is a profound recognition of God’s blessings and a means of drawing nearer to Him. We feel grateful to God for our very existence and all that we have.

When we are thankful to our creator for His mercy, we realize our dependence on Him. It helps us to be aware of the divine presence within and around us and deepen our connection with the spiritual dimension of life.

Gratitude is much more than saying thank you. It involves the appreciation of positive aspects of our lives, both big and small, that we encounter daily.

Gratitude keeps our hearts full. Being grateful does not mean denying the painful realities of life but opens our eyes to a more expansive view of reality. It has the potential to transform our outlook on life, leading to greater contentment even in the face of challenges.

Many people who have everything still feel like they are empty-handed. There are others who are content with what little they have, even if they have nothing.

That’s how gratitude works. It turns what little you have into a heap.

Once we start looking, we will begin to notice the little moments of politeness, warmth, and benevolence throughout our day.

Show appreciation to people right then by simple random acts, like writing a thank-you note or extending a kind word to brighten someone’s day. Don’t let it get tucked away in a pool of infinite other to-dos.

People, who are thanked, are apparently more willing to lend a helping hand to others in the future.

Gratitude should be directed not only towards others but also towards oneself. When we are grateful for what we have become, our energies shift and lead us to healing.

Count on it to kick-start the healing process, even at your emotional worst. Gratitude is that kind of friend.

When we focus on the things we are grateful for, we respond to our emotional experiences in a more adaptive way and are more likely to be present in the moment. This can help us to counteract greed, attachment, and the illusion of self.
