Remind Yourself That You Are Enough
Because you are
Building up self-confidence for many people is a lifelong endeavor. I used to equate academics and being smart to my self-worth. For some, that comes in the form of beauty that is only skin deep. The reality is that to truly be happy, you have to love yourself from the inside out, flaws and all.
And that can be challenging. It takes time and intentional effort. Something I’ve been working on for years now.
When I finished my doctorate degree in 2021, I got the word enough tattooed in a heart on my wrist. Though I earned the degree and worked extremely hard to get it, there was still a part of me that didn’t believe I was worthy.
The self-doubt, the impostor syndrome, the lack of confidence, all products of a disregulated nervous system in constant fight or flight.
An overachiever who can never quite achieve enough.
But on my journey of self-love and personal discovery these last few years, I realized that it’s me. I’m enough. And you are, too. Exactly as you are.
Sure, we have goals and things we’d love to bring into our lives or changes we’d like to make. But it has to start with believing in yourself and loving yourself.
