More information

The samurai lived by 8 virtuous principles: justice, courage, compassion, respect, sincerity, honor, loyalty, and self-control. These principles guided the samurai’s steps in times of peace and times of war.

Within the Bushidos universe, the Principles NFTs represent unique Guilds while giving holders special benefits. It is the first NFT release in the Bushidos Season One roadmap. The main mint for Season One is the Bushidos mint, and people who hold a Principle will get early access to the Bushidos and all future mints. Keep reading to learn more!

Eight virtuous Principles, ready for minting.

The benefits

Principle NFTs provide three unique benefits:

Early access

People who hold this NFT will be able to mint all future Bushido releases before the general public. This means that people holding Principle NFTs more or less have a guaranteed allocation.

Guild alignment

In our Discord, anyone can join a Principle Guild. Each Guild has its own community and subculture. In the future, Guilds will have unique giveaways, community projects, and impact on the Bushidos narrative.

Principle Holders will be able to join the Guild for each Principle they own, plus the one Guild they can join manually. Within Guilds, Principle holders also get access to special channels where they can help to shape the Guilds themselves.

Future-ready

Other than the items listed above (and looking very cool), the Principles will not have any utility or game mechanics…YET. In future Bushido projects, Principle holders may get unique utility benefits or game mechanics. It’s worth holding one, just to see where it leads.

Getting a Principle NFT

The Principles mint opens on Friday, September 24th at 10:00am EST. When it sells out, it sells out! But here are three ways that you can pick up a Principle.

The landing page for minting Principle NFTs

Our website will prompt you to connect your wallet (we recommend using MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet in the browser in Chrome) as soon as the page loads. Click the big “Mint your Principle” button to open your wallet. Confirm the transaction and wait for the transaction to process!

Click on the transaction in your wallet to see a link to Etherscan.

This is important…It can take a while for the Principle to mint. Check out the transaction on Etherscan to follow its status (learn how to do that here). To speed up your transaction, increase the amount of gas recommended by your wallet before minting. While it’s not a guarantee, it’s helpful. For more info on how to speed up or cancel transactions, go here.

When your transaction completes, connect to your account on OpenSea to view your new Principle NFT!

If you’re reading this after the mint, you can visit the Sashimonos profile on OpenSea to buy a Principle on the secondary market.

The history of Sashimonos

Historically, sashimono were attached to the armor of foot soldiers and elite samurai. These small banners were usually adorned with simple shapes and Japanese characters providing the name of the clan’s leader. Since samurai armor often looked very similar, the sashimono helped warriors identify their clan members in battle. Elite warriors and Shogun often had unique banner designs, making them distinguishable from other members of their clan.

Frequently Asked Questions
