Google’s Impact on Computer Vision: A Decade of Innovation
What is Computer Vision?
Computer vision or CV is a field of AI that enables computers to interpret and understand visual information from the world, like how we use our eyes. Similar to how we retrieve information, CV also involves acquiring, processing, analysing, and understanding images/videos.
Computer Vision Applications
As you can imagine, CV has many different applications, such as self-driving cars to see the road, phones to unlock with your face or helping doctors to find diseases in X-rays or even at online stores to suggest similar items.
Computer Vision Techniques
- Image classification: assigning labels to images
- Image segmentation: dividing an image into meaningful regions
- Object detection and recognition: identifying and locating objects in images
- Image localization: determining the precise location of an object within an image
- Image registration: aligning multiple images
