How to Design and Implement an Innovative Solution in Nine Months
With sound business analysis and pragmatic leadership
The most agile project I worked on was not called “agile”.
It was my best project experience ever.
It was ten years ago. I got assigned as a senior business analyst to a project that nobody wanted. There were many who considered it doomed from the start. Within nine months, with a small development team of five, we’ve designed, developed, tested, and launched a new application that won one of the highest quality awards in a large multinational company. Not only we’ve re-engineered a key business process, but we’ve also implemented a new way to calculate a critical metric that was treated as immutable and untouchable for thirty years.
One of the business stakeholders called our approach to the solution a “paradigm shift in our thinking”. Another skeptic, reluctant to support the project early on, ended up its fervent supporter, calling it “the one project for the record books”.
And most importantly, our team has never been more energized, inspired, and cohesive than when we all worked on that new system.
