It all starts with a reason for change. Business analysts usually get involved if there is an idea or desire to do something or change something.
To do your job with a business analyst mindset, you must know the answer to the crucial question: Why is this change required?
The answer to the “Why” question will be the driver of change. This answer will define the scope of the initiative or project and the true business requirements for the solution to the problem.
The goal of business analysis is not to document requirements. The goal is to find a solution to a business problem.
Let’s recall our simple definition of “business” as an organization or enterprise that delivers value to its customers in exchange for revenue. Each business has a business model that defines how value is created and delivered to its customers.
For example, a coffee chain’s business model could be a franchise network of coffee shops across a specific region that sell coffee and food items.
The coffee chain could be a publicly traded company with a goal to generate profit for its shareholders while maintaining its reputation and keeping customers happy.
