During my stint at Cisco Systems, there was a foundational change in Human Resource practices — the advent of a ‘weekly check-in’. This was positioned as the most important ritual for every manager and leader in the org, and was run in pilot mode for over 9 months (i.e non-mandated).

Research backing this statement had indicated that frequent structured (sync and async) exchanges between managers and reportees had significantly better results over the longer term (2x-6x).
