DHL: providing UK logistics support amidst COVID-19
Business Chief Europe takes a look at DHL’s efforts to help the UK amidst COVID-19. DHL partners with GAMA Healthcare
In its effort to help the U amidst the outbreak fo COVID-19, DHL supply chain, has partnered with GAMA Healthcare, to distribute 50,000 GAMA Healthcare suppliers to frontline NHS staff, as well as other key workers such as charities, hospices and emergency services.
Manufactured by GAMA Healthcare in partnership with Rockline Europe, the products being delivered include Clinell Universal Wipes, “the NHS’ most used disinfectant wipes, proven effective against human coronavirus,” commented DHL in a company statement.
“Everything we do is guided by the desire to keep people safe, and we have been working tirelessly to help the global fight against the disease. With the support of our partners DHL and Rockline, we have been able to rise to the challenges of a surge in demand and get our much-needed products to a greater number of people more quickly,” commented Guy Braverman, MD and Co-Founder, GAMA Healthcare.
“It’s an honour to be able to use our expertise to support initiatives such as this and be part of a team that’s providing lifesaving supplies to key workers on the frontline. Nightingale field hospitals in the UK
Towards the end of April, DHL was drafted to manage the new supply chains to support the build and running of the emergency nightingale field hospital across the country. The operations which would normally take six months to put into place, became up and running in two weeks enabling the transformation of the ExCel London into a hospital.
Other operations to support the regional emergency hospitals include: Skelmersdale, Lancashire, and Liverpool.

Through the expertise and commitment of our teams and their drive to support frontline NHS workers and patients, we’ve helped get a new hospital open in a matter of days, alleviate pressure on the ambulance service and access much needed equipment,” commented David Pierpoint, Managing Director UK, Life Sciences and Healthcare at DHL Supply Chain.
VentilatorChallengeUK
Back in the beginning of April, DHL Supply Chain joined forces with other leading organisations including Rolls-Royce, Ford, Airbus, Dyson and McLaren, in the VentilatorChallengeUK consortium.
DHL manages the inbound supply chain for two work streams of VentilatorChallengeUK, which is working to ramp up the manufacturing of existing, approved ventilator designs, creating a supply chain from scratch to handle 3.2 million parts.
In addition DHL is supporting Dyson on the final distribution of its new ventilator model.

Normally a project as complex as this would take three months to pull together, but we’ve done it in a matter of days.
