IEC Telecom: supporting communication amidst COVID-19
Amidst the outbreak of COVID-19, IEC Telecom, releases its latest satellite-based networking management solution — OneGate Aid Compact.
The release of the company’s latest satellite-based networking management solution — One Gate Aid Compact — is to improve the efficiency of first responders in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) during the current global pandemic (COVID-19).
Recognising the importance of communication and new technologies to fight the pandemic, IEC Telecom Group shares the same values as the United Nations COVID-19 Global Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP), and is confident that its new solution will contribute to the resistance against COVID-19, by providing efficient communication tools for critical missions.
“Successful operations during the COVID-19 pandemic are dependent on timely and proper communication in affected communities. This is especially critical to first response groups or mobile hospitals who need to act fast in areas with no infrastructure,” commented Nabil Ben Soussia, Managing Director IEC Telecom Middle East, IEC Telecom Group.
“Now more than ever, telecommunications in general and satellite communications, in particular, are critical to support our frontline workers. OneGate Aid Compact was developed as a solution to support continuous communication. It provides satellite links in remote areas and serves as GSM back-up under terrestrial network coverage,” added Soussia
The OneGate Aid Compact communication tool is an agile and future ready network management solution, that is designed to keep mobile humanitarian teams connected at all times, resulting in full control and visibility, for those within the field who are heavily dependent on satellite networks to receive remote counselling and training.
“In addition to the critical communication to support the frontline, we’ve seen a drastic increase in the use of video calls, which is a natural response to prolonged isolation,” commented Soussia. “In order to support front line staff and our communities, in cooperation with Thuraya we have doubled our data packages for April at no additional cost.”
With Increased data usage, it is essential to not only have access to satellite networks, but to be able to manage resources and essential communications for mission-critical operations.
