How to Save Money When Hiring/Leasing a Car?

Planning a road trip? You sure must have looked up rental agencies that offer car lease and hire in Qatar. However, do you know all about the tips and tricks that can help you save money when you are leasing or hiring a car in Qatar? Read on for more:

• Keep an eye out on discounts: Watch out for agencies/rentals that offer discounts or special deals. Sometimes, he time you hire a car makes a difference. When you hire during off-season, prices may come down. Check for the most economical deals and hire from a rental that offers the best package.

• Book ahead of time: Like any other service, demand increases closer to the date you need it — for instance, air tickets, movie tickets…When you look for car lease and hire in Qatar, you should be careful you don’t push booking to the last minute. As the date approaches, the prices will only increase.

• Take the holiday season into account: When you are booking during festivals, holiday season or public holidays such as the National Day of Qatar, bank holiday, etc, there could be a great rush, and owing to demand, you may not get the best deals. However, there could be some holiday/special day discounts, so keep an eye on them.

• Negotiate, negotiate: Always negotiate rentals just the way you would have if you were to buy a car. Check if the insurance is included in the lease when you negotiate for car lease and hire in Qatar, if not you may have to buy it separately. It may seem counter-productive at first to buy insurance, but in case the vehicle gets stolen or damaged in a mishap, you will have insurance cover. However, don’t rush into signing any insurance cover. Check if your existing credit-card firm offers extra coverage for rental cars.

• Get your strategy right: Would you need a car for lease or hire one right from the moment you land at the airport? You could make use of the shuttle service that the hotel has so you can save rentals for one extra day. Rental costs are higher if you get picked up from the airport.

• Book for longer than you think you need that car: Even a few additional hours to a day can get your base/basic rate down, although you intend to return the hired car much before the specific date. When you return the car, you will get a discounted price, particularly so if you make your booking eat into the weekend — Friday and Saturday. Check if there are any return fees if you return early.

• Be wary of extras: Also check if there are any fees that are not mentioned upfront. When you return the car, make sure to fill the tank or some rental firms might charge you for the price of a tank even if there is a little less than full tank.

Lastly, do you really, really need that luxury/premium car? You can drive around in a luxury one, but it is still not yours. So, if you opt for a mid-range one, you can save a lot of money, so think about it.
