3 Strategies for Your Overall Marketing Strategy
Developing your marketing strategy in today’s world can be difficult to say the least. The thought of how to combine traditional marketing technics with a strategy that applies to the ever-changing world of social media can lead to sleepless nights. There is no need to stress however, there are still some principles that have stayed constant that can help you develop an effective and integrated marketing strategy.
1. Know exactly who your marketing strategy is targeting
It is an absolute must to clearly identify your target audience, both in terms of demographics and psychographics. Demographics meaning age, sex, location, and so on. Psychographics meaning attitudes, behaviors, and interests. Your marketing strategy must be tailored to the following questions;
Who are your target customers? What are their motivations? How do they like being communicated to? Which newspapers or magazines do they read and which sites do they visit regularly? Which channels are they using? if they’re using social media, what are they talking about?
2. You must choose your channels wisely
Your marketing strategy must accurately identify which channels to best reach your targeted audience. Although Facebook is important these days, your marketing strategy must focus on more than it. You must ask yourself questions like ‘What are the channels’ strengths and weaknesses? How will they help me reach my business objectives?’”
According to Adds Yusuf Bhana, digital marketing manager at “Translate Media”, you must “Be ruthless in selecting and rejecting channels. It’s better to concentrate on the more effective channels than trying to be everywhere all the time.”
3. Make sure you have a consistent look
According to Andrew Stanten, the president of “Altitude Marketing”, “Visual identity is far more than your logo. It entails having a common overarching design (look and feel), style of photography and graphics, consistent logo treatment, common colors and fonts…Everything should look as if it came from the same. A person reading an e-newsletter or brochure should see an immediate visual connection when visiting the website.”
Developing your marketing strategy is a complex process. You must know who you are trying to reach, and how to reach them. Be confident in your approach. Be consistent with your look. Use these three steps as a baseline, and it will allow you to formulate a solid foundation for an effective marketing strategy.
