Introduction

According to the Taiwanese policy for decreasing the air pollution, in 2040, all vehicles in Taiwan should be electric. In order to follow this policy, we needed to explore the electric vehicle market. This report compares two potential local Taiwanese electric companies, Ahamani and Gogoro.

Ahamani

Ahamani was founded in 2008 and focused all its effort in building the European and Japanese markets at first. It then started to explore the Taiwanese market in 2012. Ahamani produces two models — SWAP R 5.0 and SWAP S4.0. The maximum speed of its vehicles are 80 km/h and they have established their own electric vehicle rent system in Penghu. Recently it went into cooperation with an Indian company Hero Electrics, but it is still not so famous in Taiwan.

Gogoro

Gogoro was founded in 2011 and dedicated all its effort in building both the Taiwanese market and European market. Gogoro mainly produces two models with customized service, Gogoro 1 and Gogoro 2. The maximum speed of its electric vehicle is 90km/h, which is faster than Ahamani. Even though Gogoro doesn’t have an electric vehicle rental system, it has recently been dedicated to Taiwanese electric grid building. It hasn’t cooperated with any other company but is very popular in Taiwan.

Recommendation

Making a wide electric grid in Taiwan is strongly suggested, due to the service areas that rely on it. Therefore, I suggest a cooperation with Gogoro would be the ideal choice for the Taiwanese market.
